Not Quite Alice, But Almost

After posting the "Top 10 Movie Songs", I decided that I shouldn't keep the Alice in Wonderland soundtrack to myself anymore. Consider yourselves lucky because I was going to keep it to myself, but I don't want to be seen as selfish. So as I have said before, Almost Alice is the soundtrack with songs adapted from Tim Burton's movie and Lewis Carroll's books.

1. 'Alice (Underground)' by Avril Lavigne
2. 'The Poison' by The All-American Rejects
3. 'The Technicolor Phase' by Owl City
4. 'Her Name Is Alice' by Shinedown
5. 'Painting Flowers' by All Time Low
6. 'Where's My Angel' by Metro Station
7. 'Strange' by Tokio Hotel and Kerli
8. 'Follow Me Down' by 3OH!3 featuring Neon Hitch
9. 'Very Good Advice' by Robert Smith
10. 'In Transit' by Mark Hoppus with Pete Wentz
11. 'Welcome to Mystery' by Plain White T's
12. 'Tea Party' by Kerli
13. 'The Lobster Quadrille' by Franz Ferdinand
14. 'Running Out of Time' by Motion City Soundtrack
15. 'Fell Down a Hole' by Wolfmother
16. 'White Rabbit' by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals

All of these songs are original except for White Rabbit, which is originally performed by the band Jefferson Airplane. Have a listen of the soundtrack and let me know what you think!

Artist of the Month

I bet you guys are wondering, what happened to last week's song? Well, it would have been Fully Alive by Flyleaf but since I have not been able to get them out of my head for 4 weeks, why bot aake them artist of the month right? Soooo........CONGRATULATIONS TO FLYLEAF FOR BEING ARTIST OF THE MONTH!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I could give them a prize...oh well. So right nw I am listening to Cage the Elephant. I'm sure many of you guys have heard their song Ain't No Rest For the Wicked which is AH-mazing, but right now I'm listening to In One Ear and I'm debating over which one is better.

P.S. I'm writing this from our new iMac computer. It's really cool :)

Song of the Week 3/1

I have had many little music obsessions in the past, and I am happy to announce that Flyleaf has been added to the list....Im so mad. I actually wrote this post last night but it got erased so I forgot everything I wanted to say...Ok I remember a little! :) But first the song. This week's song is............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................I'm So Sick. Its really great and although it has a heavy sound (think wicked guitar riffs and screaming) I think that the fact that Lacey Mosley, the lead singer, is a girl, that it adds a little softness and kind of a balance. This song would probably fall under the gebre of screamo and may be described as emo but then, I havn't exactly been feeling like rainbows and butterflies either. This song says a lot; heres my favorite line:

This invasion
makes me feel
worthless hopeless
sick

Pretty sick right (no pun intended). This song may bring out some unwanted feelings but, in my case, it has sort of a calming affect too. So many mixed emtions!!!! That's music for ya though :)

Down the Musical Rabbit Hole

I cannot wait for Alice in Wonderland!!!! The wicked awesome (and my favorite)director/producer Tim Burton is showing his perspective of Lewis Carroll's book with a creepy, modern twist. Even more wicked than the movie is its soundtrack called Almost Alice. It comes out March 2 and I will be first in line to buy my copy! The songs on this album are inspired by the movie, so they're not actually going to be in it. And who could go wrong with artists like Avril Lavigne, Metro Station, and 3OH!3 putting their interpretation of the trippy movie into lyrical poetry?

RIP F.O.B.?

OMJ!!! Is it true!!! I just found out that Fall Out Boy has broken up, but it can't be true!!!! NO, NO, NO, NO, NO!!!!!!!! Comment if you have any information.

Song of the Week 2/22

Paramore is filling up the spaces in my room, it's Playing God from their new album Brand New Eyes. As I have said before, I am faithfully and happily married to Incubus, but I am REALLY loving Flyleaf right now. Flyleaf is an American rock band from Texas. Some of you may remember their single All Around Me from their self titled debut album. This weeks song is from their second album, Memento Mori, which is a latin phrase meaning "be mindful of death" or my personal favorite "remember you will die". What a happy title!!!!!! Here's the song..............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................This Close! I discovered it when my best friend posted this as her facebook status: "I've been looking through your window, I've been dressing in your clothes. I've been walking dead, watching you....long enough to know I can't go on. ♥ ♥ Flyleaf, your lyrics touch me. ♥ ". This caught my eye so I decided to download the song. Lacey Mosley starts off this song with a dream that she was dead but she pretended that she still lived. Its a little confusing but when she sings about looking in your window and all that, I think she means that, by beaing dead and intruding on this person, she's never felt so close to them before. I dont know, maybe lyrically amused can help me :)

All Apologies

Cool title right? :) I'm apologizing for not having blogged lately. I've been kind of lazy (which I won't be anymore) and also a little behind on homework, but thats high school for ya. So since I didn't anounce ast week's song: here goes...................................................................................................................................................................................................... It's Blah Blah Blah by Ke$ha!!! It was bound to get stuck in my head since I have to listen to it for an hour every ther day in dance class. It's a total party song, and I have to say Ke$ha is pretty vulgar with her lyrics, but it's great to dance to.

Music videos were made to give an image to the song (and a better understanding to the listener), but the image of this song left me confused. It's just Ke$ha's usual drunk and confusing party scene, but maybe you'd like this song better with you eyes closed.

Singles Awareness Day :P

Happy Valentine's Day lovers!!!! Or in my case, happy Singles Awareness Day :P. I thought I should let you know about the love song playing in my room right now. Wish You Were Here by Incubus. Something I think you guys will notice as time goes by is that Incubus is my favorite band and that I'm totally obsessed. Wish You Were Here is a beautiful song, mostly for the people out there who can't be with their honey's right now, or for the lonelys like me wishing they even had a honey. The point is, whether with a loved one or without, this is the perfect Valentine's Day song that will make you feel all warm and fuzzy as lead singer Brandon Boyd belts out the lovely lyrics. :)

Song of the Week

Hello music lovers!!!!! I would like to start off by saying that I'm listening to Blah Blah Blah by Ke$ha ft. 3OH!3, check it out. I would also like to say that I'm soooo lucky because my teacher did end up reading my blog aloud to the class. Whatever, I got some positive feedback from some of my classmates. I have decided that there should be a "song of the week". How am I going to be picking the song of the week? Easy. It will be the song that I can't get out of my head, the song that I dance in front of the mirror to, the new song that I recommended to my friends if they didn't know about it before. So without further ado, this weeks song is (drumroll)............................................................................................................................................................................. Phenomena by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. It's AWESOME!!!! And I have to admit, as soon as I get off the bus I put it on so I can kind of strut to class while listening to it :). I first heard it when watching The Ruins. It was the song in the end credits and I fell in love with it. In case you were wondering, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are a band from New York City. Their genre is indie rock/art punk, and they formed in 2000. Phenomena is from the band's second album, Show Your Bones, which came out in 2006. I think you guys should also know that they are wicked cool! Thats all for today, but I'll keep you updated on whats cool in music right now. Also DO NOT hesitate to comment song suggestions for me. I'm not begging, im just saying, there's probably loads of music you want to fill me in on. :) see ya

Boredom and Papa Roach

I'm not very sure how to go about this, I've never had a blog before. My teacher said this could be about anything, that this blog is a little more personal than the blog we're going to be using for class. I'm listening to music right now. I'm listening to The Fire by Papa Roach. I love that song. I love music in general, listening to it and playing it. I started playing the drums in 3rd grade and I used to be really into it, but now I dont play as much. I would like to learn to play the guitar. I have one, but I'm a lefty so all the strings are bacwards for me. So bored...I hope my teacher doesn't pick my blog to read aloud in class tomorrow. We'll see! :)
